It was yet another blessed day for the states of Maharashtra & Goa even though it was the last day of the 5 day Ashadi Ekadashi celebrations. The Sai Kulwant Hall was beautifully bedecked in a beautiful set to display the life of Sant Ramdas - a very famous saint from Maharashtra. The drama was presented by the students of the Sri Sathya Sai Vidyamandir, Dharmakshetra , Mumbai.

Bhagawan arrived in Sai Kulwant hall at about 5:30 p.m while the Veda chanting was on. The atmosphere was further electrified with the children from the Puttaparthi Schools joining the chanting full throated as soon as Bhagawan arrived. After going around the Mandir blessing devotees, Bhagawan lit the ceremonial lamp on the stage signaling the commencement of the evening’s proceedings. The commentary at the start of the ballet, was done in Telugu & in English. It gave a brief introduction of the play. Special mention was made about the fact that all the boys participating in the drama were Marathi speaking and had learnt the dialogues in English in a record time of two days!

The story of Sant Ramdas was beautifully embellished with lively dances that perfectly captured the dynamic reign of King Shivaji – Sant Ramdas’ dearest disciple. The stupendous dancing skills displayed by the children enthralled the audience and there were several eruptions of delighted applause from them. The drama depicted the initial days of Narayana (later honoured with the title Samarth) who was totally immersed in the contemplation of his Lord Rama to the oblivion of all worldly bonds of family or friends from his early childhood. The profound life of Sri Ramdas was skillfully intermingled with delicate humor that endeared him to the entire audience. One of such hilarious highlights was the scene of Narayana running away from his marriage to avoid bondage and seek eternal freedom in the name of His Lord.

The drama traced his life through the 12 years of penance after which, he gained the three fold realization of Lord Rama. Narayana then came to be known as Ramdas . He travelled from village to village doing social service and urging people on to the path of Seva with the Mantra - “Service to Man is Service to God” and that “Ram Seva is Gram Seva.” There were several other miraculous incidents depicting the spiritual advancement of Sant Ramdas where he brought a dead man and a dead bird back to life. It was because of these Divine feats that he was revered as ‘Samartha”- the man of versatile skills.

Sri Ramdas was the Guru of King Shivaji. The drama beautifully revealed their deep love towards each other signifying an ideal Guru Shishya relationship. Bhagawan was visibly moved by the entire play and He profusely blessed all the students. He spoke to the two boys playing the characters of the young and adult Shivaji. But perhaps the most touching shower of Grace was on the teacher who had taught the children the English dialogues! Bhagawan materialized a ring for him.Naturally, every soul in the hall was drenched in ecstasy. Bhagawan signaled towards his heart and said “Very Happy” before blessing everyone with Abahaya Hasta.

All the participating children were blessed with clothes and prasadam. Bhajans were sung for about 10 minutes after which Aarti was performed. Bhagawan soon retured to the Yajur Mandir at about 7:15 p.m leaving everyone from Maharastra & Goa with tears of gratitude for the memorable Ashadi 2010.
Aum Sri Sai Ram       May Lord Ganesha remove obstacles & bestow wisdom to all.
